Water and Hydration
I just wanted to write something simple that could help people with their health and fitness.
One thing that is absolutely crucial and that is often overlooked or forgotten about is hydration.
As most people are aware, our body is mostly made out of water.
There is a formula to determine how much water we should be drinking everyday that I took from a book called “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water” by Fereydoon Batmanghelidj.
The formula states that you should take your body weight in kilograms and multiply it by 0.033 to determine how many litres of water you should be drinking every day. Of course, this is a general formula and may vary depending on the level of activity you partake in. Also, another important thing to remember is that if you are not used to drinking plenty of water then the result of the formula may seem like a lot of water you should be drinking. If this is the case, then all I would say is try to increase your water intake gradually over time so that your body gets used to it.
The other crucial thing to remember is that the quality of the water is also really important. Ideally we want to drink water from a spring or an artesian well. The best water bottles on the market are Evian, Vittel, Fiji and Volvic. If you do purchase bottled water then please remember to recycle the empty bottle as we all have a responsibility towards the health of the planet. If you drink tap water it is best to filter it and remineralize it to make sure the ph levels are same with the ph of the body. Hopefully I’ll be able to expand more on this in another blog post.
